6. Introduced in DSM 7.2.2 and continued in DSM 7.3, media file processing for HEVC (H.265), AVC (H.264), and VC-1 codecs is now handled by end devices to improve system efficiency. These codecs are widely supported on end devices such as smartphones, tablets, computers, and smart TVs. If the end device does not support the required codecs, the use of media files may be limited. Refer to this article for workarounds.In addition, please note the following exceptions:
   • Surveillance Station on DSM will continue to support server-side processing of AVC (H.264) streams, see the release notes.
   • Deep Video Analytics (DVA) series models and VisualStation clients will retain support for AVC (H.264) and HEVC (H.265) codecs.

Compatibility & Installation​

1. Node.js v14, Node.js v16, PHP7.3, PHP7.4, and PHP8.0 are no longer supported.
2. To ensure compatibility, the following packages will be automatically updated or will require a manual update to a compatible version: Active Backup for Business, Active Backup for Google Workspace, Active Backup for Microsoft 365, Advanced Media Extensions, Antivirus by McAfee, Antivirus Essential, Cloud Sync, Container Manager, Download Station, File Station, Hyper Backup, Hyper Backup Vault, Log Center, Media Server, Note Station, PACS, Presto File Server, Snapshot Replication, Storage Analyzer, Surveillance Station 9.2.0 or below, Synology Chat Server, Synology Drive, Synology Mail Server, Synology MailPlus Server, Synology Photos, Universal Search, and Web Station.

What's New​

1. Added an option to postpone important DSM auto-updates for up to 28 days after the first notification.
2. Added support for Synology Tiering and Synology Tiering Vault.
3. Added native exFAT support for external devices, allowing seamless access without additional packages. The exFAT Access package has been discontinued.
4. Added support for backing up and restoring the "Verify server certificate" setting in LDAP directory service. Restoring this setting requires both the export and import systems to run DSM 7.3 or above.
5. Added support for selecting organizational units (OUs) to synchronize when joining a domain. In this version, if you need to modify the OU synchronization list after joining the domain, you must leave and rejoin the domain.
6. Added an option to automatically lock encrypted storage entities during a manual reset (Mode 1). After the reset, the key vault is erased and disabled, and encrypted volumes and shared folders are locked to prevent unauthorized access. This option is set to disabled by default.
7. Added support for sending OTP emergency recovery codes by email if users cannot receive their OTP during 2-factor authentication for OS login.

Fixed Issues​

1. Fixed an issue where DSM configuration backups or Hyper Backup could fail while Shared Folder Sync tasks were running.
2. Fixed an issue where residual snapshots from previous backup tasks might cause entire system backups in Active Backup for Business or Hyper Backup to fail.
3. Fixed an issue where Snapshot Replication tasks might fail due to unexpected errors.
4. Fixed a security vulnerability regarding curl (CVE-2023-38545).
5. Fixed a security vulnerability regarding AppleTalk (CVE-2023-51781).
6. Fixed a security vulnerability regarding krb5 (CVE-2024-37371).
7. Fixed a security vulnerability regarding PostgreSQL (CVE-2025-1094).
8. Fixed multiple security vulnerabilities (CVE-2024-12085, CVE-2020-22218, CVE-2024-24806, and CVE-2023-37920).

Hab mal mein Backup-NAS upgedated (DS116)
Mal schauen wie es läuft!

P.S: Bisher alles gut und auch nach dem Update, außer 2 Paketaktualisierungen, keine Probleme!

Bei meiner DS116, ebenfalls Backup, liefs durch.

Bzw. hing nach dem Update ewig bei "Paketaktualisierung.... Storange Analysator", Seite neu geladen irgendwann bzw. in einem neuen Fenster geöffnet, und lief. Mail Station repariert, PHP 7.4 deinstalliert weil nicht mehr unterstützt und läuft.

HyperBackup 4.1.3-4136 scheint auch keine Abhängigkeit mehr zu PHP 7.4 zu haben, steht zumindest nicht mehr dran.

Keine Probleme mit DSM 7.3 auf der DS218j. Die anderen sind noch nicht aktualisiert.

Endlich mal ne vernünftige mobile Seite wär ja mal was, aber ich glaub das wird bei Synology auch in den nächsten 10 Jahren nicht passieren, vielleicht weil die aktuelle iPhone-Abklatsch Gruselseite schon zum Weltkulturerbe gehört

Ich bin mal "todesmutig" DS920+ mit DX517 -> Update 7.3 gestartet
Edit01: Sie piept, nice, da scheint wohl ein Volume gecrashed, schaun wir mal
Edit02: Ich denke das NVME Volume, weil die Paket Updates laufen auf dem SATA SSD Volume
Edit03: ja, da habe ich richtig gelegen, siehe Screenshot, NVME Speicherpool tot, weil NVME-SSDs nicht akzeptiert
Edit04: @DaveR hdd_db Script erneut manuell (ist aber eigentlich im Aufgabenplaner für Hoch und Runterfahren eingetragen) ausgeführt und Neustart, alles wieder Grün!
Edit05: Active Insight wurde wieder mitinstalliert, habe ich sofort deinstalliert!
Edit06: Container Manager musste noch aktualisiert werden und einige Container musste ich händisch nachstarten aber soweit läuft alles. Aber dieses zwischenzeitliche Dauerpiepen kratzt schon etwas an den Nerven

Fazit: Nach noch einigen Paket Updates und der üblichen Reorganisation nach Updates (ca. 1 Stunde, leichtes Gerödel der HDDs), ist wieder alles ruhig auf der DS920+ und sie "schnurrt" wie ein Kätzchen

Interessant und irgendwie komisch ist ja, dass diese große Neuerung, dass die neuen Modelle nicht nur noch Synology Festplatten fressen, mit keinem Wort erwähnt wird

Sorry, mein Fehler. Nach dem Update auf 7.3 wurde die NoteStation als nicht mehr kompatibel angezeigt und ich musste sie installieren. Ich bin davon ausgegangen, dass sie eingestellt wurde. Vergesst bitte meine Anmerkung.

So, hab mich jetzt auch getraut mit meiner DS1522+, Update problemlos.
Was ich nicht ganz verstehe ist, dass mein 2. Speicherpool bestehend aus 2 Samsung-NVMEs (980 PRO 1TB) weiterhin nicht angemault wird. Laut Kompatibilitäts-Liste dürfte das m.E. nicht gehen. Ich musste da aber noch nie irgendwie tricksen.

Für meine beiden (DS918+ & DS420+) kann ich auch Erfolg vermelden, bisher keine Probleme vermelden.
Auch meine Anpassungen konnte ich problemlos wieder etablieren.

Backups & Replication auf die Backup-DS laufen

P.S. Wer die von mir beschriebene Key-Authentication für Hyper Backup benutzt, muß einmal den Befehl "chown -R HyperBackup: /volume1/@apphome/HyperBackup" absetzen, damit die Verzeichnis-Rechte wieder stimmen, sonst klappt die Anmeldung beim Backup nicht mehr.
