How to install Video Station in DSM 7.2.2

Das sind die echten Preise. Ich habe Lifetime für knapp 60 Euro gekauft.

Hallo, bevor ist das an meiner DS716+ updaten und das mit dem Script probiere und das dann schief geht, habe ich das an meiner alten DS216j probiert, die mir nur als Datengrab dient. Dort bekomme ich aber immer folgende Fehlermeldung:

Line 287: ERROR Installing Advanced Media Extensions failed!
progstatus called from package_install line 425

geht das nur auf bestimmten Modellen?

Zu #20 und einigen davor: Ist doch völlig egal. Wer irgendetwas von der längeren Liste an Features haben will, die oben verlinkt wurde, muss bezahlen. Das ist nachvollziehbar aus Sicht der Entwickler, und es muß jeder für sich entscheiden.

Der Charme der Video Station war halt, eine praktikable Lösung zu haben, ohne den ganzen Plex-Chichi, den viele nicht benötigen.

Jeder, dem das wichtig ist, kann einen Feature Request an Synology stellen, die VS wieder einzuführen. Was auch immer es nützt.

Für jetzt ist das Script von @DaveR das beste, was wir als Community haben.

The Synology website says DS216j has Marvell Armada 385 88F6820 CPU.
It's not important to me that it works on the 216j, I just wanted to try out how to set it up. I really want to use it on the DS716+ (Intel Celeron N3150 Braswell)

When I try to download Advanced Media Extension for a DS216J manually I get a file "CodecPack-armada38x-4.0.0-4025.spk". So armada38x seems to be correct.

Ok. I expected "CPU armv7l armada38x"

So the script is trying to download a package for armv7l but it needs to download the armada38x package.

I'll have an updated version of the script online shortly.

Thank you, the script worked. ADE is now installed and activated on DS216j with 1.1.0-01006. Thank you very much for your work.

I think Synology has built in even more hidden obstacles. When I start the VS, it tells me to install the latest version of ADE in order to be able to use the VS and then to reinstall the VS.

I'd rather leave my DS716+ on the old version 7.2.1. That's how everything works at the moment.

That's what happens with Video Station 3.1.1-3168 installed in DSM 7.2.2. Only Video Station 3.1.0-3153 works.

Did the script install Video Station or did you install Video Station?

If the script installed it would show in package center as 30.1.0-3153 (note the 30). If you are not seeing 30.1.0-3153 in package center then uninstall Video Station and run the script again.

ahhh ok. I deleted VS again and let the script work. VS can now be opened without errors.

I have just looked at your comments in your .sh...

Do I understand correctly that you are downgrading the AME and that the current versions of Drive, Photos and SS will not work?
Then it would be a choice between plague and cholera.

Photos still works for me. I haven't tested Drive. Surveillance Station may be a problem.

I'm trying to get Video Station to work with AME 4.0 by adding the removed codecs, but AME 4.0 has changed things a lot. I was only doing this for fun to see if I could do it. But if I could then Surveillance Station would work as Synology intended it to.

This script installs Video Station 3.1.0-3153 and Codec Pack 3.1.0-3005

I'm still looking at getting Video Station 3.1.1-3168 to install, and run, in DSM 7.2.2 because had a change so Video Station could download from OpenSubtitles. Or maybe copy the changes from 3.1.1-3168 to 3.1.0-3153
