VirtualBox auf der DS

I assume the problem is somewhere between phpVirtualbox and the Host-System that the bridge can not be attached to the Host eth0.
Question is what the bridge capabilities of the DSM-Linux are.

What does "ifconfig" show on the DS?

did you choose PCnet-fast III? PRO/1000 on Ubuntu sometimes does not work.

It worked with a NAT connection. It seems unlikely to me that the NIC configuration might cause this. I would first make sure the guest is able to access the DHCP server to obtain an ip address. My guess is that the guest is unable to find a DHCP server on its DHCP request. With NAT VirualBox acts like a little DHCP server for it's NAT-guests. When switching to Bridged Mode VirtualBox relies on the DHCP server in the network. If the DHCP server is inaccessible from the segment the guests reside in, you have problems as described.
You can configure the Ubuntu machine on it's console through RDP (192.168.1.201:9000). You might considder to give the guest a static ip address. (Don't forget the subnet mask and the default gateway.)

Thank you all for your input and hints. Bordi did hit the spot. Never heard of that ubuntu have problems with PRO/1000, but it seems that it does... once I swithced to PCnet-fast III everything works like charm!

Das hängt m.W. daran, wann Synology die Sourcen für diese DSM-Version veröffentlicht. Ein Datum wurde m.W. bisher nicht genannt.

Hmm.. dauert jetzt schon ne weile. Zu lange für meinen Geschmack. Ich frage mich ob die fsfe für etwas mehr druck sorgen könnte? Oder vielleicht eine Klage? 1 kleiner gegen 1 grossen ist seit David nicht-mehr allzu oft vorgekommen, aber viele kleine gegen 1 grossen, das kennen wir nicht nur von Gandhiji, wir kennen es auch von den Ameisen.

Ja, es ist echt ein wenig frustrierend. Aber der Umstand, daß es beim nächsten Update auch nicht besser sein wird, lässt mir graue Haare wachsen.
Entweder dann ein funktioierendes phpvirtualbox ODER ein aktuelles DSM....Die Wahlmöglichkeiten finde ich dann schon etwas - nun ja - bescheiden....

Hoffen wir das die Absicht dahinter ist das sie selbst eine funktionierende Virtualsierungslösung anbieten wollen und keine Fremdsoftware (obwohl sehr gut laufend und einfach zu intergrieren) haben wollen....

...das wird wahrscheinlich die anderes Seite der Medalie sein. Sieht man jetzt schon bei VirtualDSM/DockerDSM. Andererseits bietet QNAP Virtualisierung jetzt ohne Zusatzkosten an, also alternativen gibts ja..

Aber meine Glaskugel ist kaputt , hoffen wir mal das beste und Synology stellt die Source bald zur Verfügung.

Obwohl, als Hersteller oder wohl besser bezeichnend als ein Globales Unternehmen welches sich als Architekt und Vertreiber eines Spezifischen Arrangement von Hart & Software eingeschossen hat , ....welches auch weiterhin vor echter Konkurrenz nicht übermässig umzingelt scheint, gibt es wohl nur wenig Beweggründe den Freiheitskämpfern, Internetaktivisten & OSS hackern zu folgen. Man darf nicht vergessen: Synology ist ein Kommerzielles Unternehmen und nicht die Wohlfahrt bzw irgendeine NGO. Kommerz / Geld / Macht ist für mich ein und derselbe Topf. ..und wo Geld & Macht bewirtschaften, ist auch der Schritt zu Kriminalität und Missbrauch nicht weit.

Insofern würde ich mal behaupten das deine Glaskugel -obschon sie defekt ist- noch immer eine recht passable Bildauflösung vorweisen kann.

Hallo Forum,
ich verfolge das Geschehen hier schon seit Monaten und bin sehr dankbar für die zahlreichen Informationen rund um das Thema VirtualBox auf DSM! *Thumbs Up*
Nun zu meiner Frage: Ich nutze das Plugin mit DSM 6.0 und möchte die VMs täglich automatisch starten lassen. Da ich in der Weboberfläche nichts entsprechendes gefunden habe, will ich VBoxManage nutzen und ein kleines Skript schreiben. Problem ist nun, dass meine bereits erstellten VMs nicht erkannt werden, hier ein kurzer Auszug der Fehlermeldung:

Du kannst doch mit "list vms" alle vm anzeigen lassen.
Probier dann mal die UDID zum Starten zu nutzen ich glaube das ging damit.

Sonst findest du bestimmt was auf der virtualbox Seite was du direkt testen kannst.

Stoppe alle VM
öffne die Datei /volume1/phphvirtualbox/config.php

ändere die config von

nach

/* Enable startup / shutdown configuration.

speichern, schliessen. phpVirtualBox wird dir nun im VM-Menüpunkt "Allgemein" die Einstellung "Startup Mode" zur Verfügung stellen. Den stellst du bitte auf Automatik.

Vielen Dank für die Hinweise. Das Problem lag darin, dass der Owner von VBoxManage root ist. Somit war der Aufruf mit sudo entsprechend erfolgreich Task im crontab als user root eingetragen und schon funktioniert das Skript auch ohne sudo
