Compatibility and Installation

    Supports the following models (previously not supported in Active Backup for Business 3.0.0): DS416play and DS418play.

Important Note

    Supports automatically renaming existing items during file server restores when a type conflict occurs.

What's new

    Improved restore performance via Apple Migration Assistant.
    Supports selecting multiple virtual machines on non-hierarchical hypervisors.
    Supports Windows Volume Shadow Copy Service (VSS) for SMB file shares when backing up NetApp file servers.

Fixed Issues (General Issues)

    Fixed an issue where backups might fail when running on a network interface not managed by DSM.
    Fixed an issue where downloading a folder from the Restore Portal might fail due to a corrupted file.
    Fixed an issue where the backup time might incorrectly display.
    Fixed an issue where backup copies might fail to replicate properly and the status might be incorrect when joining an ActiveProtect site with a management server running APM 1.1 or later.

Fixed Issues (Mac)

    Fixed an issue where storage space on Mac might be used up because snapshots were not removed after a backup failure.

Fixed Issues (Virtual Machines)

    Fixed an issue where application-aware backups on Hyper-V might fail if a snapshot took too long.
    Fixed an issue where backups might fail if a VMware hypervisor password contained non-ASCII characters.
    Fixed an issue where pre-freeze or post-thaw scripts might fail if the virtual machine running Windows had a temporary path that contained spaces.
    Fixed an issue where Hyper-V virtual machine restores failed due to vSwitch name conflicts.
    Fixed an issue where automatic discovery might add unsupported virtual machine types to backup tasks.
    Fixed an issue where backups might not be verified if the number of disks exceeded eight.
    Fixed an issue where hypervisors used as restore destinations might still be deleted.
    Fixed an issue where virtual machine backups or restores might fail due to network instability.

Limitation

    Synology NAS models DS416play and DS418play can't join an ActiveProtect site.

Inzwischen installiert und getestet: Läuft...

Jedenfalls hab ich nichts Ungewöhnliches feststellen können...

Ich leider schon. Die Version ist beim Update auf DSM 7.3.1 gleich mitinstalliert worden. Als ich jetzt einen Client hochgefahren habe, der sein letztes Backup versäumt hat, hat der Agent gemeint, dass ich den Dienst nicht verwenden darf, weil er inkompatibel zur aktuellen Version von ABB ist. Also nachgesehen und festgestellt, dass der Agent auf 3.1.0-4960 also aktuell ist. Außerdem finde ich die Meldung auch auf anderen Clients. Spannend ist, dass sich die Sicherung vom Server aus starten lässt und problemlos durchläuft.
Ich habe jetzt auf einem Client der heute Abend gesichert werden soll, den Agent de- und reinstalliert. Die Verbindung hat sich problemlos herstellen lassen. Mal sehen, was heute Abend passiert und ob die Backups der 218+ und der 1019+ heute Nacht durchlaufen.

Das Update auf DSM 7.3.1 hab ich noch nicht gemacht. Drei Clients hab ich über die Oberfläche von ABfB updaten lassen (2x Windows, 1x Linux). Die restlichen fehlen noch.

Eine Meldung wegen Inkompatibilität habe ich nicht bekommen.

Das war ja das Merkwürdige. Die Clients waren bereits alle auf der neuesten Version. Ein Update über ABfB war gar nicht möglich.

So ist es auch bei mir, Clients (ohne DSM 7.3.1 Update, noch nicht installiert) Update installiert bisher keine Probleme.

Ich hab grad auf DSM 7.3.1 upgedatet, er zeigt natürlich keine Fehler, da ja ABfB schon aktuell ist...

Um die Geschichte abzuschließen:
In #3 hat sich ein Fehler eingeschlichen: Es sollte 224+ statt 218+ heißen. Beide Maschinen fahren ihre Bare-Metal-Backups problemlos. Bei allen Win-Clients musste ich den Agent schließlich manuell neu installieren. Weiß der Geier, was da schief gegangen ist Die Backups laufen aber wieder problemlos. Soll nix schlimmeres passieren
