linux mint lmde 7 und drive client

hi all!
synology drive client is in the appstore of linux mint lmde 7, but if i select it the process gets stuck. if i try to install the downloaded latest version (synology-drive-client-17889.x86_64 or 17885) it shows
"fehler: abhängigkeit nicht erfüllbar: libglib2.0-0 (>= 2.16.0)"
so in fact not usable; is this a mint or synology problem, is there any actual workaround or will this be adressed during updating and refining process.

This is a common issue when installing Synology Drive Client on Linux Mint LMDE 7 (based on Debian), as the package requires a newer version of libglib2.0-0 than what is available in the LMDE 7 repositories.

The error "abhängigkeit nicht erfüllbar: libglib2.0-0 (>= 2.16.0)" means the required version of libglib2.0-0 is not available in your system's repositories.
This is not strictly a Mint or Synology bug, but a compatibility issue: Synology provides packages mainly for Ubuntu and Red Hat-based distributions, not for Debian-based ones like LMDE.
LMDE 7 may have older libraries, and Synology's package expects newer ones.

I have installed the drive version synology-drive-client-17889.x86_64.deb under Mint LMDE7, which runs. I'm not sure if this is the latest version. Download .deb version from the download center or archive and install it manually. That's how I did it.

hi luddi and thx 4 your answer - quite clear now what the problem is!
.. it also explains why i had no problems in mit cinnamon.
.. maybe one more thing to mention: after the trouble with the downloaded latest version (17889) i tried and found a flatpak version of it. this one let me install - obviously it had the right lib with it. but - unfortunately this version did something looking like right but finally it made a mess on my target ntfs partitions occasionally and also produced some "phantom" file no where present on the nas.
so for now unfortunately seems like i have no chance to use drive client on this lmde version. not quite sure but i believe it worked flawlessly before upgrading to lmde 7 / debian 13.

ps@benie: thats exactly what i did as mentioned which gave me the a.m. install error "results" - no way.
