Problems with RESET 4sec function - not password dialogue appearing !

Dear all

I have a problen with the reset function

i was thrown out as administrator (not admin account) past a security change and sharpening the account and password rules.

i fount the RESET function and apllied it to my Synology DS214play with almost latest DSM version.

After 4 sec a beep occured and the NAS restarted.

But logging on to the NAS with the account "admin" and empty password nothing more happens then .... "please wait" (or a similar message).

The expected dialogue to enter a new password does NOT occur !


I tried to logon with the DS File app , and there i get the message that admin account was resetted, but still can not access here.


Questions :

how can i logon to my NAS Again ?

Or how can i alter the password for a successful logon ?

optional : why is the password change dialogue not appearing ?

Welcome Kai,

That's a known problem. The default password is unknown, only leaving blank does not work.
press 4 sec reset then again 4 sec reset, DSM reinstallation starts
Enter a username (NOT admin!) and a password. Use DSM and after change the admin password to your own password.



In the present time, Synology changed the password from admin to an unknown default password! Look at the picture!
I used password: admin, Admin, Synology, synolgoy, SYNOLOGY, blank field --- nothing works!

Reinstall DSM ( 2 x 4 sec Reset) create a own username with own password, log in and go to DSM / Users / admin and change the password of admin!

Does this include setting up the complete DSM configuration as well ? A new re-injstall of DSM ?

I'am sorry, but the answer is YES. But it is the only way to login without username with adminrights. You have a username with adminrights login and change the password of "admin". Without username with adminrights no way at the present time, sorry.

I am testing with password:
admin, Admin, synology, SYNOLOGY, Synology, blank field --- nothing, no way. We need default password of admin after install, maybe only Synology can answer this question.

Das Problem im Augenblick ist beim DSM das Standard Passwort vom admin! Sofort nach der Neu- / Erstinstallation vom DSM setzt das System automatisch ein admin Kennwort, dieses ist derzeit aber unbekannt.
Wenn jemand DSM installiert und sich einen Usernamen auswählt, dann wird dieser ausgewählte Username automatisch in die Gruppe der Administratoren gehoben und das bei der Installation eingetragene Passwort wird verwendet für diesen User.
Als nächstes dann sofort in die Benutzerverwaltung gehen und dort den User "admin" bearbeiten und unbedingt ein eigenes Kennwort dort eintragen!
Somit kann man später jederzeit mit "admin" und dem geänderten Kennwort auch als admin ins DSM einloggen.
Ändert man das admin Kennwort nicht, kann man sich nicht mit dem User admin einloggen, da dessen Kennwort unbekannt ist!

Das führt im Augenblick dazu, dass auch der 1. 4sek Reset nicht funktioniert! Dabei wird u.a. der admin auf Standard zurückgesetzt, die Blacklist der IP Blockaden aufgehoben usw., leider wird auch das admin Kennwort auf "standard" zurückgesetzt und das ist derzeit unbekannt!
Früher ging es einfach damit dass man das Feld Kennwort freigelassen hat, nur das geht jetzt nicht mehr!

Ich habe es versucht als Kennwort mit folgenden Eingaben:
admin, Admin, synology, Synology, SYNOLOGY, leeres Feld und dem Kennwort vom User mit Adminrechten ---> geht alles nicht.

Hallo,
kann ich alles so nicht bestätigen, kleinen Reset gemacht, als admin mit leerem Kennwort angemeldet und wurde zum festlegen des admin Passworts aufgefordert. Gemacht an einer DS1517+ mit aktuellem DSM.
