I would use SSDs and not HDDs in a slim or FS200T. When I got stuck with 4 SMR WD Reds (thanks WD!?!?!) I noticed that 1 SMR HDD in RAID with 7 CMR HDDs was okay. But as each CMR HDD died and I replaced them with an SMR drive the NAS got slower and slower. With 4 SMR HDDs and 4 CMR HDDs in the... -

If the FS200T is not classed as a 25+ model it may not get the new 25+ series drive restrictions. But even if it does get the restrictions the current restrictions allow 3rd party 2.5 inch SSDs. But there are better all-flash NAS available with 4, 6 and 12 M.2 slots like Asustor's Flashstor... -

All Seagate 2.5 inch HDDs are SMR except for the EXOS E. See https://www.seagate.com/au/en/products/cmr-smr-list/ WD 2.5 inch HDDs are SMR. -

Earlier today I checked Synology's archive site to download the DSM pat files for the new models and there was no pat file for DS625slim or FS200T (but there was for the six 25+ models). The FS200T is not available in Australia yet (and we will get new Synology models at the same time as Asia). -

The ls: write error: Broken pipe errors would be because grep is closing the pipe before ls has finished writing data to the pipe. It would seem that the ls command is pausing while running this command: ls /dev | grep nvme The command should take less than a second.- DaveR

Synology 2025: Nein Danke! -> Alternativen?
I really like the Asustor LOCKERSTOR 6 Gen3 (AS6806T). It's got the hardware specs I expected from a DS1625+ or DS1825+. The ADM OS has improved a lot since I bought my first Asustor back 2020, but it's still not as good as DSM or Synology's apps. -

HDD SATA 26TB HDD in die neuen 25er Modelle migrieren
I have a DS1821+ and DS720+ and the V1500B CPU definitely seems faster, but not a lot faster. The PCIe 3.0 x2 M.2 slots are also faster in the V1500B compared to the PCIe 2.0 x1 M.2 slots of the J4125.- DaveR

Storage Manager won't show the volume as fully used until it finishes the migration. Are you sure it's migrating? Migrating a HDD only takes a few minutes.- DaveR

I just tried 2 different USB C thumb drives in the USB C expansion port on my DS925+ and DSM did not detect the drives. The LED in the drives never flashed either.- DaveR

DS218+ 2 HD im Raid 0 in DX213 einbauen
Yes. Shutdown the NAS and expansion unit before moving the drives. Disconnect the eSATA cable. Boot the NAS and install/setup DSM on the SSDs. Connect the eSATA cable and turn on the expansion unit. Let DSM do a drive migration on the drives in the expansion unit.- DaveR

Are you sure that the DX213 works with a DS218+? Officially the DS218+ only supports the DX517. You could access your data on drives in the expansion unit, after you let storage manager do a drive migration.- DaveR

It depends on what codecs the Fire TV Stick can play without transcoding, and what codecs your video/audio files are. What jellyfin server version is installed in docker? What jellyfin client app version is on the fire stick? -

That would also be a problem with the Jellyfin package in package center which is 10.10.7 So the only Synology NAS that can run recent Jellyfin versions with hardware transcoding would be DS124, DS423, DS223j and DS223 as they have an iGPU and kernel 5.10. I seem to remember people on reddit...
