    A week ago I was thinking of buying a DXP6800 Pro then I discovered UGOS can do a Btrfs scrub and report on errors but cannot correct those errors! So UGREEN recommends using ext4. I'd probably run Xpe on it anyway but it would be nice if UGOS was more finished.

    People on reddit have said that when you install DSM again your storage pool, volume and data are still there. But I'd probably clone those drives before trying it.

    Yes. You can use SHR with 1 drive. When you add a 2nd drive it changes to have 1 drive data protection. When you create the volume you get a choice of Btrfs or ext4. Btrfs is the default.

    Correct. Just remember that hyperbackup, and copying to USB are slow.

    @bonnma That's why my steps only move some of the data, and restore the rest of the data in step 15 :)

    Here in Australia I can't buy Toshiba HDDs (except external ones). Nobody sells them. But I can buy Synology 8, 12 and 16TB Plus series HDDs (which are N300).

    Not yet. I intend making an adaptor cable to connect old eSATA expansion units to '25+ series models (which would need my https://github.com/007revad/Synology_enable_eunit script to enable them). Once I have that working the same cable would work in reverse for a DX525 with older DiskStations...
