    If it's 90% done after 12 hours it should only take another 1.5 hours. It has to read every sector on HDD1 (even the empty sectors). And because you've inserted a new HDD2 DSM will read every of sector of it to check the HDD is not faulty.

    The only package you have backed up in HB backup is Storage Analyzer, so I wouldn't even bother with restoring it's history and settings. Do you have a file in "@app" with a .dss file extension?

    Well intentioned people here are providing overly complicated solutions. :) With RAID 1 or "2 drive SHR" you can definitely replace a 6TB SMR HDD with an 8TB CMR HDD.
