    As long as the DS has Internet access, or you have download the DSM 7.3 pat file, the DS will install DSM on 3rd party drives.

    I wait for other people to update and find the bugs. My main Synology NAS is still on 7.2.2 Update 1:) My DS925+ is still on 7.2.2 Update 3. I can't remember what version is on my DS720+ because I haven't powered it on since I moved 6 months ago.

    The "In the meantime..." in the press release leaked to SpaceRex sounds like it is a temporary backtrack, until 3rd party drives have been verified (and DSM 7.3.1 or DSM 8 are released).
