Dear DSM community,
I am new to this and started using DSM Cloud Station Backup for backing up my PC.
I installed Cloud Station Backup on my PC and it copied about 150000 files totalling some 200 GB within an extremely short time (few hours - I was impressed with the speed).
However, when I wanted to check, whether the backup worked, I found this impossible:
While directly browsing through the network share worked flawlessly (where I could see, that all my data was there), using the Version Explorer was impossible:
Changing from one directory to the next (lower or higher) level takes between 1 and 3 minutes!!!
As soon as I click the directory (e.g. CloudStation (Home)\Backup\Vibe\C), the Volume utilisation goes up to 50% (meaning the 8TB HDD, which contains the backup is running at 100% speed) and nothing happens for about 1 - 3 minutes.
Then after 1-3 minutes i briefly see the "working sign" (4 blue rectangles flashing) and then the desired folder opens. After opening the path, the Volume utilization drops back from 50% to 0.
The weird thing is that as soon as I have accessed one folder once. I can quickly navigate to it again. I.e. some sort of index has to be built when accessing one folder for the first time. This problem exists even when I directly access the Version Explorer from the NAS (not from the backed-up PC)!
Furthermore, when I right-click any folder, all buttons (like Browse previous versions, Copy to..., Restore..., Download) are greyed out. What use is a backup, if the "Copy to" and "Restore" functionality is greyed out without explanation.
Any help is highly appreciated. Thanks a lot!
Michael
