Since Synology now has their own DDNS servers, like synology.me, would it not be possible to also add support for these ?
Now you have to login to myds.synology.me once every 90 days to keep the DDNS alive.

It would be a lot easier if we could get support from DDNS to do this.

Thank you,
Red

Hi Bob,

I know, but this is the DDNS updater plugin support isn't it ? ;)
What I meant was if the DDNS updater plugin could also offer support for the new synology.me DDNS service.

Synology now have their own sort of dyndns.org thing, called synology.me
It works just like dyndns.org, but it's completely free.

The only snag is that you need to login on their website, at least once every 90 days. Just like on dyndns.org at the end.

So if the DDNS updater plugin could provide support for this 'new' DDNS service, that would be great.
Not just to update the IP itself, but also take care of the auto-login.

It's certainly possible to do, as someone already created a separate script for the login part

Hi,

i understand. I know the problem that you describe (login after 90 days).
I had a DDNS at dyndns.org and there was the same problem the last 2 years. That's the
reason why I've changed my DDNS provider to selfhost. There is the possibility to authorize
yourself by your passport data and paying 10€ for one year. So you have not to authorize every
90 days.

Sorry but I can't help you to adapt the DDNS updater plugin. I think, that only Synology can do this.
Please correct me, if I am wrong.

best regards

Are you sure?
I haven't logged in to their website for more than 3 months and I never noticed any problems. Nor I got some mails with "kindly reminders"...
In fact I logged in there just yesterday, but the last time before that was in 2013.

The DSM updates my synology.me adress by using the integrated DDNS module. That's all I do.

Maybe he means that you have to login on your own dsm interface

Synology's own DDNS addresses can not not updated by the DDNS updater and also not with another tool known me, since Synology uses its own process and this is not publicly known until now.

You don't must login on their page every 90 days, start the DiskStation and update the ip adress with Synology DDNS is sufficient - is normally performed automatically.

This is the mail that was sent out by Synology

Dear user,
You have not logged in to Synology MyDS Center[Links to https://myds.synology./] using your account ************** since 2014-04-13 11:28:14 GMT +02:00. It is necessary to log in every 90 days to prevent your account from being removed from our system.
If you are no longer using ****************, simply ignore this message, and your account will be removed automatically.

Sincerely,

Synology MyDS Center

I hadn't logged in for quite a while, just like all of you. And they actually deleted my DDNS name.
The DDNS app in the configuration screen doesn't automagically update the info if your IP address doesn't change.
And I believe this was the case for me. My IP address hasn't changed for months ... so nothing was updated.

In the DDNS updater app, you can set some time where an update is forced. Ideally I would like to force an update at least once per month.
Hence the request to also add support for the synology.me DDNS system.

Even some function that would perform the same action as the button that has 'update now' in the DDNS screen would fix the problem.

Well this makes sense. But, so far, you didn't tell us about your static IP. :)

A workaround may be to an automatic restart via timer (cron) in order to update the DDNS while the DS starts.

Or you just push the update-button manually every three months!?
